A total of 24 hostelry establishments in the district of Torrevieja are participating in this first edition of the event, which runs from today until June 23rd
The success of the twice-yearly Torrevieja Tapas Route has proved that these Spanish snacks are in fashion. This is why businesses in La Mata are collaborating with the Town Hall Hostelry department to put on ‘De tapas por La Mata’ to promote the gastronomy and places to eat in the area when there are a lot of tourists and residents about.
The programme was presented by Councillor for Hostelry Luis María Pizana and a few representatives from the restaurants that came up with the idea.
Much like the Torrevieja Tapas Route, it offers a drink and a tapa for two euros at the 24 participating venues, each of which will offer two tapas. There are 2,500 leaflets available that show where these bars and restaurants are.
Pizana informed that there is also a competition to win a weekend in a rural hotel and a dinner for two at one of the participating venues. Entrants have to try a tapa in 6 of the establishments and get their leaflet stamped in each one.
