Albatera, Granja de Rocamora and Cox town halls will cover the cost of coaches to the protest. Those wishing to go aboard the coaches must reserve their seats at one of these town halls
The signing of the contract between the Vega Baja Area Residue Plan Consortium and the contractor, Cespa-Ortiz, has angered the residents’ group that opposes the installation of this plant for the area in Albatera.
The heads of the association ‘Albatera, No Al Vertedero (Albatera, No to the Dump)’ have obtained authorisation from the Sub Delegate of the Government in Alicante to protest on Sunday in order to show the refusal of a whole population to house this installation. Other groups who also oppose the Plan, such as those from Granja and Cox (in their case as it involves locating a rubbish transfer plant between these municipalities), have also announced their support. Other associations from various places around the Vega Baja that have announced their participation include Vertivega from La Murada in Orihuela.
The demonstration will leave at midday from the Plaza de la Montañeta, continue along Calle Ángel Lozano and Avenida Alfonso X El Sabio and finish at the Rambla Mendez Nuñez.
